Updates on my Little Precious Angel Lorenzo Jadeyn Martinez
First off, Let me say thank you to all the individuals praying for our precious little Angel. On March 11th, 2010 I gave birth to my sweet baby boy via emergency c-section. During Labor Lorenzo's heart rate dropped. The doctors decided it was best to deliver him. After being taken to the Nicu Lorenzo had some seizure like activity so Doctors decided to give him an MRI and other various tests. The MRI showed something on the posterior fossa, which they are thinking may be a tumor. Lorenzo stayed in the NICU at Tulsa until being life flighted to the Children's Hospital in Oklahoma City. Since arriving here Lorenzo has had a blood transfusion. His MRI was completed on the 16th, Once we sit down with the doctors we will know more, such as his care plan. I will keep updating throughout his fight. He is such a little fighter, hes my angel. Please keep our son in your prayers!

NEW UPDATE - March 17th, 2010 8:04 p.m.
Jesse & I met with Lorenzo's Doctor this afternoon. The MRI results are still showing the mass on his brain, which they say resembles a blood clot instead of a tumor. Most likely it is a blood clot because its has had 7 days to grow if it was a tumor and it has not increased in size and most embriotic tumors grow rapidly after birth. Also, a small cyst was found in his throat close to the back of his tounge. The doctors say this may be the cause of him being unable to breathe without the intibation tube, although they are not 100% positive. The MRI results also show that Lorenzo's spinal cord is very narrow, but will most likely correct itself in time with growth. In exactly one month the doctor will preform another MRI to see if the mass or clot has deceased in size. If so then it is a blood clot that has absorbed itself as most blood does absorb after a certain time period, just as a scab or wound would heal. If Lorenzo stays stable with his intibation tube then he will be transported back to Tulsa to St. Francis Children's Hospital for care. We will find out for sure sometime tomorrow if the Doctors here would like to transfer him. I pray to God he stays stable throughout the night and keeps up his stats as well as his saturation levels. He has however gained 2 ounces. He is still receiving fluids through his IV. If he is transferred back to Tulsa they will try and give him neosure through a feeding tube. So, the plan is to try and get him back in Tulsa and monitor him for one month until another MRI study takes place. This is a good thing because he will be closer to his Family AND we will both be able to see him anytime we would like. Please continue to keep Lorenzo in your prayers! He has made it this far so he's a fighter. All I can do at this point is to leave it up to God and trust that he will see us through this difficult time. Thank You to everyone who keeps our Family in your prayers it means more then you know. No Child should ever have to experience this, but some things just happen and we don't know why only God does. God has a plan for Lorenzo, although we are not sure what that may be all we can do is keep our Faith. I think about the future alot and wonder whats to come, but my main focus right now is making it through this month until the next MRI study takes place.

NEW UPDATE- March 20th, 2010 12:45 P.M.
Last Night I spent some very special time with Lorenzo. I walked into the room and to my surprise he was off the intibation tube and using a little nasual canula. It was so great, I almost cryed. I am so happy he is breathing on his own with very little oxygen. He is keeping his saturation levels up so they will continuously decrease the amount of oxygen he is receiving until he is completely weined off. I also changed his diaper for the second time, he had passed a little meconium. Which he will continue to do until all of the meconium is passed out of his bowels. I also was able to dress him in a preemie outfit before I held him it was so cute. He didn't want to extend his legs out he was so comfortable with being cuddled up. He got mad when the nurse started messing with him and helping me out changing him. It was like he was telling her to go away, Mommy's got this! I am so happy I was able to hold him for the first time. It felt so great. I couldn't take my eyes off of him. I know God is watching down on him, and things are looking up for Lorenzo. I cannot say Thank You enough to everyone whom is continuing to pray for my Son. He is such a fighter! I have faith in his recovery. I know it will be a long road but we have enough Family & Friends surrounding us; and that gives us the strength we need to keep our heads where they should be. Thank you to everyone who accepts my calls and texts late at night when I need someone to talk to. You all have no idea how much talking just helps relieve some stress. Once again I just want everyone to know how much Jesse and I appreciate everything that everyone is doing for us. Please continue to keep Lorenzo in your prayers! He needs all of us! and especially YOU GOD!

New Update- March 20th, 2010 11:40 P.M.
We were unable to get out tonight, The weather here in Oklahoma City is bad. It has been snowing throughout the day. It has frozen to ice. I spoke to Lorenzo's Nurse which His Nurse told me that he has been doing good with his tube feedings which were started earlier today. They will continue to feed him through his tube until he is fully off of oxygen which may be as soon as tomorrow depending on his saturation levels. He has been doing pretty good. I thank you all whom continue to pray, It means alot to Jesse and I. If you happen to open your bible please read James 5:15. Lorenzo, Mommy is here for you. I think of you every moment of the day. You are such a blessing to me. I cant wait to hold you again!

New Update- March 23rd 11:53 A.M.
Lorenzo's feedings have been increased now to 15cc's every 3 hours. Which isn't exactly enough nutrition to keep him feeling full so he is still receiving IV Fluids through his PIC Line, which is an IV type thing, It just lasts longer. I am so glad that he is doing great. I just try to keep my mind from running off and worrying about the worst. I really want to think positive thoughts at this time. He was really alert last night when I stayed with him. His eyes were open alot of the time. He is more sleepier than usual as I have noticed. I dont know if that has to do with the mass or if its just because he is considered premature or all the meds he is on? His nurses plan on getting him to bottle feed sometime this week, I was giving him his soothie pacifier last night he seemed to know how to suck he just got tired with it. He would suck a few times and just let it fall out. I am praying to God that the doctors do some type of intervention with the mass as soon as humanly possible. I feel like were sitting around doing nothing. It hurts so bad knowing he is going through this. If anything I wish I could take his place now I know thats not possible because I have a responsibility as a Mother to my other 2 children. In this matter No one takes importance over anyone out of the 3. Lorenzo's Needs are just urgent at this point in time. If shama reads this to you Alexandria and JoJo Mommy loves you, she is just stressed out. I will be home soon to play and color with you hopefully with baby brother in tow. God Please keep your hands over our Family! and most importantly God I ask you to heal my son fully, I ask for a full recovery. I know this isn't going to be easy and I am not asking for it to be, I just want my son to recover from this whole ordeal. Please God shine your presence down on him and watch over him every waking moment of the day, and heal whatever it is on his brain and make it vanish completly!! I know you have a plan for my little Lorenzo, I know you are not death but, You are life, so protect my Baby; God. Amen!

New Update- March 24th 12:23 A.M.
Lorenzo's feedings are now up to 35 CC's every 3 hours. He is sleeping now as I am updating. I love being able to be so close to him. I also just held him and then he feel asleep so I put him back in his little bed. He doesn't have much interest in sucking at his binky tonight, well this morning. He is continuing to to keep his stats up. Thank God. I wish Lorenzo would have some type of interest with sucking. Hoping to see him bottle feeding soon. Daddy might be coming back to Oklahoma city tomorrow. Brother and Sister are still with Grandma. This weekend I want to visit with them as much as I possibly can. I wish all my children could be together, well & healthy. God will take care of that soon enough. Until then all I am left with are my prayers and FAITH in HIM that he will protect my son and heal him completly!! Goodnight, keep your prayers going and please keep our Family in your prayers, & most IMPORTANTLY LORENZO!!

New Update- March 24th 11:27 P.M.
We just got home from visiting with our little Lorenzo. We spoke to the doctor in charge of Lorenzo's care and his care plan for now is to get him to bottle feed, that is the main thing so we are able to bring him home. He is still using enfamil 22 calorie formula. Whatever Lorenzo doesn't take in the bottle will be given to him through his feeding tube. He did throw up his first couple of feeding after arriving in Tulsa. I think that may have been because he was receiving different formula then he was in Oklahoma City, so they put him back on Enfamil. The hospital is great! Very nice Children's hospital! I think he is in very good hands! The plan is still to complete another MRI in one month with contrast so they are able to get better imagery. I will continue to update his stay in Tulsa until the little guy is home, which is hopefully soon! Please, please continue to pray! Lorenzo is a little fighter as he has proved since being placed on this earth! He is here for a reason! Thank you God for blessing us with Lorenzo, thank you for sending us our little Angel! Goodnight everyone! Please pray, pray, pray & pray some more!

New Update- March 27th 1:06 A.M.
Just got home from visiting my little Lorenzo. Poor little guy is so pooped, all he likes to do is sleep. He is still receiving his seizure medicine (phenobarbital). His feedings are up to 44 ML every 3 hours. He is bottling, just not as much as I'd like for him to be, whatever he doesn't eat in the bottle is put in his tube. He did however get upset this evening and decide to puke up some formula. I feel so bad for my little man! Although I KNOW if I just continue to keep my faith in God everything will take care of itself, AMEN!
Monday Lorenzo's Phenobarbital levels will be taken to determine if he is still receiving the right dosage amount. He will continue to take his seizure medication when he gets home for precautionary reasons, the doctor just wants to make sure he isnt taking to much! Phenobarbital makes you sleepy, which might be what is causing some type of apnea making Lorenzo's saturation levels flucuate. Keep my Baby Boy in your prayers along with our Family! God is on our side and WE WILL NOT LOSE THIS FIGHT! We are in, no matter how long the road to recovery is!

NEW UPDATE- March 28th 10:43 P.M.
I stayed up in Lorenzo's room last night. I was able to feed him myself every 3 hours. He did real well with me. It seems as if the nurses don't have as much luck with his feedings as I do. He slept peacefully throughout the night, so did I. His phenobarbital levels will be measured in the mornings to see if he is receiving the right dosage amount. Hopefully they will lower his dosage and he will not be so sleepy. He is very alert during the beginning of his feeding then he just dozes off and the rest is given to him through his feeding tube. Please keep praying for our son!

NEW UPDATE- March 31st 11:55 A.M.
Lorenzo's nurse called me this morning at 6:58 A.M. and told me some really great news! Lorenzo had his feedings at 2 & 5 A.M. and took the whole 50 ML. It's so great knowing that he will be home soon. Last night while I was visitig with Lorenzo his doctor stopped in (Dr.Anderson), he told me that what they are doing at the hospital are things that I can do at home such as feeding him and giving him his phenobarbital. If he keeps his nippling up, he will be home soon. His scans also arrived from Oklahoma City, and the Hematology/Oncology Doctor (Dr. Humm), will be looking at the "tumor markers" today! So I will post more once I have new information!

Just got off the phone with Lorenzo's night nurse and she told me that Lorenzo took all 50 ML's at his 5 & 8 P.M. Feedings! I am so glad! It's music to my ears! Dr. Anderson has scheduled an ultrasound for his head at or around 11 A.M. tomorrow to make sure there is no bleeding and the "MASS" hasn't increased in size. I will be on eggshells until the results are in. I will update more once they come in. Please keep Lorenzo in your prayers. His feedings are going great so far. I cannot express how thankful I am for all the Love and Support that has been shown and given to our Family. Thank You St. Francis Auxilary Volunteers for his First Easter Flag, Its tooooo cute!

NEW UPDATE- APRIL 2nd 12:00 P.M.
So, the results from Lorenzo's ultrasound came back and showed fluid has filled some ventricle space in the brain. The "MASS" or "TUMOR" has blocked the flow of some of the fluid. Dr. Anderson contacted Dr. Gross which is the neurosurgeon there in Oklahoma City and asked what should be done? Dr. Gross recommended an MRI STUDY take place right away and the scans be sent to her in Oklahoma City. A shunt may have to be placed in the brain to drain the fluid. Although, if the MRI study shows most of the blood has resolved then a biopsy study may take place to determine what exactly the "MASS" or "TUMOR" is on the posterior fossa. Lorenzo is getting his blood drawn to see if they are able to complete the MRI with contrast this time for better imaging. Please keep praying!

NEW UPDATE- April 5th 1:28 A.M.
Just got back home from Lorenzo's room. He's doing pretty good besides the fact that he has been placed back on a nasual canula. His MRI study disk will be sent out to Oklahoma City this morning. His Oxygen level was desating all the time down into the low 80's. He is receiving 25% Oxygen which is just a little whiff. Dr. Anderson believes Lorenzo is having trouble with his oxygen because of the mass on his brain or either the lumbar cyst. The Ear, Nose & Throat Doctor in Oklahoma City didn't think that the cyst's would effect his breathing in any way because they are so small. Now, we will be waiting to hear something from the Neurosurgeon there in Oklahoma City to find out where to go from here. Basically, we just need to find out what exactly this "mass" is. Then from that point they would know how to further treat it; if any surgery is needed and what not. I will be going up for Lorenzo's feedings in the morning, so hopefully will catch one of the Doctors for any more information at all, if any. Lorenzo has ate all of his feedings for the last two days so, the tube may be removed today or tomorrow. Keep praying everyone. God is shining his ever loving Light down on Lorenzo. Happy Easter Babe. Hope you liked your cards Mommy put up along with your new outfit. Again, God Thank You for my 3rd Angel. Theyre perfect in every way. Today was a Good Day! You gave us life God and for that I thank you as well. I Thank you in Advance for the complete healing of Lorenzo.

Yesterday at 4:00 P.M. Lorenzo came home! It was a very happy/nervous day for me. Leaving the security of the NICU is a very big change and it's kinda scary. So the plan for now is Lorenzo will follow up with the neurosurgeon in OKC on May 10th and in between he will be seen by a home health nurse and visiting his pediatrician. So far hes been doing great! His feedings are going well! Thanks to everyone still praying!
